Small foot fenland Bog Oak dish with unusual markings. Bog Oak turns deepening shades of brown from mahogany to peat black due to the tannin reaction to the acidic soil in which it has lain for hundreds, or thousands, of years. The less affected growth rings have either a lower tannin content or were perhaps not as fully saturated as the rest of the tree. Sealed in food safe mineral oil.
