Oak Lamp Base - Small
The lamp base is designed to recall milk churns from the 40s and 50s having a gently tapering profile with a cap at the top and a shadow gap at the bottom to allow the flex to leave quietly. The base is available either in a burned or a raw finish. The burned finish is sealed with a beeswax/oil mix while the raw finish is sanded to 600 grit for a sheer, ultra-smooth finish. Please state at checkout your choice of finish. The small lamp base has a base diameter of 180mm narrowing to a top diameter of 170mm over a height of 220mm between base and shoulder. The cap is 15mm tall and the rise between the shoulder and the cap base is also 15mm, giving a total height of the base of 250mm before the shade holder is added. The bulb holder is raised on a bronzed metal post to allow the profile of the base to be fully appreciated. Each lamp base is turned to the design template from an air dried Oak beams, drilled through the core of the lamp to create a wiring channel, and either burned with a plumbers blowtorch at 1600 degrees C and sealed with a beeswax/oil mix or sanded to a superfine finish, wired with 2 metres of anthracite grey linen covered cable with an in-line switch, and finally PAT tested, packaged and despatched. Please note that lamp bases are made to order and have a 14 day lead time. Also, due to the weight of the base an additional charge of £20 is made for postage and packaging.
