One of a trio of tall Oak bowls from the same reclaimed timber beam. This one was turned and charred internally which opened the grain on the exterior. I used a rough pan scourer to remove the carbon from the inside and without cleaning it used the same scourer to remove the sanding residue from the outside. This had the effect of highlighting the exterior texture by depositing carbon powder in the surface imperfections, giving the exterior a kohl look and highlighting the rich grain figuring.
