Being Oak, it has a delightful solidity and heft. This piece is on the cusp between a bowl and a platter, so I've called it a low bowl as it has a rim. Charred Oak is never truly black - it has deep, leathery brown and purple tones to the charred surfaces that were twice burned and then brushed with wire wool to remove any carbon dust before sealing with food safe beeswax and Danish oil mix.
